Brian Ellner is a SELL-OUT and DOUCHEBAG

Brian Ellner, who recently ran and lost the primary for Manhattan Borough President, had run a great campaign.  He went up against much more prominent and experienced officials and came in tied at 3rd with Margarita Lopez - the former city councilwoman.

Brian ran as an openly gay candidate with campaign posters that read: Be Proud to Vote Again and Vote Proud: Vote Ellner with messaging like "an end to politics as usual".  Modelling himself as a Dean Democrat, he even hired Joe Trippi as a consultant.

He ran a great grassroots campaign.  He fought hard... and even nasty sometimes, which is part and parcel with politics.  His efforts landed him that third place spot.

However, it seems that Ellner is the epitome of "politics as usual" and for that he is a Douchebag...

Brian Ellner, who at every DFNYC meetup decried Bloomberg, who at Stonewall Democrats NYC's meetings  decried Bloomberg, who on his campaign wore Dump Bloomberg buttons and said any of the Dem primary challengers for Mayor would be better than Bloomberg, is going to work for Bloomberg.

He was gunning for an administration appointment, but was hired instead to help... turn out LGBT voters for Bloomberg.  The same Bloomberg who vetoed the Dignity for All Students Act and then sued to keep it from being implemented after the City Council overwhelmingly overrode the Mayor's veto.  The same Bloomberg who had said he'd support the Equal Benefits Bill (requiring city contractors of 100k or more to provide benefits to same-sex partners) and then flip-flopped and said that city business should not be used to push social causes.

And of course, Brian Ellner made these campaign issues.  Well Brian is an opportunistic, self-righteous, sell-out.  I am glad he lost because we don't need any more "politics as usual" double-talking, backstabbers who sell out their own kind to get ahead.

F-ing douchebag.
